What to expect when you work with White Recruitment

Your career is one of the biggest deals in your life. Most of us spend around 40 hours a week working, so why should we stick at a job we don’t enjoy?

Deciding you’re ready to move on is the first step, and it’s important to make this decision for the right reasons. We’ve all burst through the front door after a rough day at work proclaiming that we're going to hand in our notice first thing in the morning. But take a rational approach before diving into a full-blown job search.

Then, look at the vacancies in your industry. If anything sparks your interest, get in touch with us – you’ll be able to speak directly with the recruitment consultant that is working the role, so they will know both the position and company inside out.

Initial chat

At this stage, it’s a case of you and your recruiter getting to know each other. They’ll want to know a few things about you and what it is you’re looking for. You’ll be asked:

  • What you’re looking for
  • Your career history
  • Skills
  • Salary expectations
  • Hours

Your consultant wants to know all this so that they can effectively pair you with the right clients and roles. Other useful information for them is the stuff that you’re looking for from your next company. What kind of culture has encouraged you to thrive in the past? Is there anything that would put you off from working somewhere?

This informal conversation is a great way to equip us to effectively work with you in finding a new role that is going to suit your wants and needs.

Once we have this information, we can not only put you forward for the role you’re interested in, but also look at other roles we have available and make educated decisions on roles and companies that we believe would be a great fit for you.

Sending your CV

At this stage, you’ll have sent us your latest CV – we have some handy tips if it’s been a while since you’ve updated it. We can then look over this on your behalf, and ensure it is going to communicate what you need it to. We will then send this over and have a call with the client to discuss your history, skills and expectations with them.

Then, it’s interview time.

The interview

If you’re invited to interview, we will liaise between yourself and the client to arrange a suitable time for both of you, and will be available help you to prepare. We know our clients, so have experience in what you’re walking into. We’ll let you know:

  • where you need to go
  • what is expected of you
  • what you need to take
  • the structure/type of interview

Being fully informed really helps to alleviate those dreaded interview nerves, but if you’re still a bit shaky on the day, give your consultant a call. We’re well-versed in reassuring candidates with pre-interview jitters!

Remember: an interview is an opportunity for both parties to get to know each other and ask questions. You’re interviewing them too.

Post-interview

Now that the hard bit is out of the way, there’s usually a bit of waiting time. Often, the company is still carrying out other booked interviews and making internal decisions about who is the best fit for both the role and the company.

Don’t worry – we won’t disappear! We’re still just a phone call away and will keep you posted on any feedback we get. We can also continue putting you forward for other suitable roles, so don’t stop checking out new vacancies.

The final decision

Once a decision is made, we’ll be in touch with the news.

If you don’t get offered the position, we will get constructive feedback from your interviewers. This is always helpful; understanding why they chose another candidate can help you to hone your technique for future interviews.

You got the job!

Congratulations! You’ve been offered the position. Now is your chance to look over the role and the package and decide whether you’re going to accept. Again, we can liaise with the client at this stage and ensure you’re happy with the final offer.

Again, we’ll keep in touch. We want to know how your first day goes! And we’re still at the end of the phone to answer any questions you may have prior to starting at the company.

Other than that, we’re ecstatic that we’ve played a part in changing your life for the better!
